Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job throughout Corcoran's youth. Sometimes, her family depended on free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with contempt and disrespect, particularly after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic primary school within her community and began the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and was a D-student when she graduated.
